Getting Water

Getting Water (48)

It was hard to believe that I was up north again. We were just here for 3 weeks, went back to Montreal for a week or so, went back to work, my legs and backs began shooting all kinds of pain, wasn't able to work, and now I had to heal. I also had to wait until I was able to get an MRI to find out what I had.

I knew I wasn't able to do anything strenuous, but I also knew I couldn't just sit around all day and do nothing. So I did little things, stuff that wasn't strenuous... and the one thing I wanted to do for a long time was install a little water pump in the washroom. Right underneath my cottage is a reserve of water. Now if I had the money or the health, I would make a well, but money was now very tight and there's no way I could start digging 15 feet into the ground. However it was simple to add a water pump and it took no effort at all, just the time to do it.

Once it was installed, Bob said I was prouder than a peacock. I think I played with my water pump all day after that. Just as a little aside - during the spring, summer and fall, we get our water from the lake, however when we go up in the winter, since the lake is frozen, we're waterless. But now with the water pump that pumps the water from under the house, we have water... it's freezing and filled with iron, but we still have water to wash ourselves, the dishes, and to use to flush the toilet. Living in town, you take running water for granted... and water is life.

So what did Bob do while I was adding my water pump...? Half the time he was on his laptop working (on dialup... he does complain sometimes) and the other half the time he came in to watch me and took pictures, and a lot of closeups of my feet.
