Nite Time

Nite Time (47)

Once I returned back to work, my back was starting to hurt me so bad. I am a pastry baker and you would think it's an easy job, but it really isn't. I've been lifting mixing bowls the size of a small pony (literally... I'm not joking you... ask anyone who works in a pastry factory). All my life I've been doing it, and I've always considered myself built like an ox... until my body decided to talk to me.

The pains in my legs were seriously incredible. I made an appointment to see the doctor, and she ordered me to go get an MRI. Now here in Canada, we have Medicare which is a good thing because I didn't have to pay for the MRI. The bad thing is I was put on a waiting list... and they said it could take up to 6 months possibly before having the MRI. That meant a lot of things: out of work with very little pay (the insurances would not kick in for 4 months... if they kick in at all and social insurance only pays something like 60% of your initial pay)... and I had no clue what was wrong with me.

So what was there to do...? Bob 'n I decided to just go up north. I was really messed up, pains in my legs came in waves... but some moments it was fine and I felt no pain. It was early September '07 and I might have to wait until maybe February '08 before finding out what was wrong with me, so I was filled with mixed emotions. I was scared about my future. However we decided to go back to the cottage since it was probably the best place for me to heal.
